AROUND ŠOLTA

A short tour with much to offer

SEGET DONJI MASLINICA ROGAČ / NEČUJAM STOMORSKA GORNJA KRUŠICA / STRAČINSKA JORJA / TATINJA ZAGLAV / ŠEŠULA JELINAK

In the following we will introduce a charter tour that offers a great deal to see. It is the very thing for a one-week holiday cruise with the yacht. You will take some very impressive memories back home with you. The distances to be covered need not always be all that great, it depends on your impressions and assuredly also that there is enough time left over for bathing, swimming, snorkelling, explorations on land and making full use of the water toys.

1st DAY

MASLINICA

We start our tour at the home harbour in Baotić marina in Seget Donji. From here we head directly for Maslinica, a gorgeous harbour on the west coast of Šolta. The town harbour was completely renovated recently and has been transformed in a high-class marina. The Venetian palace of Martinis Marchi that was built in 1703 is now home to a 5 star luxury hotel and a high-class restaurant.

If you want a breathtaking view of sea while having lunch, the Sampjer restaurant is to be recommended highly. Here you need to take a short walk, but it is well worth it as a way of ending the first day.

All around Šolta there are many small paradises that are only a few sea miles from each other. The untouched nature and the clarity of the sea simply invite you to bathing and swimming and to taking a break. During the tour to Šolta it is essential pay attention to the weather and the wind. If the bora is blowing, it is best to go along the south coast that is protected from this wind, since the bora comes from the north-east. If in summer the jugo wind that comes from the south is blowing, then you should avoid the south coast of Šolta. The jugo can last for up to three days and bring rough seas with it.

2nd DAY

ROGAČ / NEČUJAM

NEČUJAM

NEČUJAM

Our next destination is Rogač. This is the main harbour on the island of Solta. In the daytime the place is very lively and is visited by a lot of tourists. There are a number of guest berths for larger yachts as well in the town harbour. There are berths with moorings for guests of the Pasarela restaurant. This is definitely to be recommended; enjoy fresh seafood at lunch, directly by the sea. The coast around Rogač is rocky and there are there are a few bays with shingle beaches. The land is hilly and covered in forest.

Suitably fortified by a good lunch, we continue on the biggest bay of the island of Šolta: Nečujam. Literally it means the "bay of silence," but it has now changed and in the meantime a number of tourist developments have been built. There is a wrecked ship at the bottom of the sea off the south-western part of the island, and this can be explored by snorkelling. However, there is a great deal of boat traffic here in the summer months. The bay of Nečujam offers many anchorages in many sub-bays. which are just ideal as a place to stay the night by anchoring with a line from the stern. There you can enjoy a peaceful dinner on the yacht.

STOMORSKA

After a pleasant night and a substantial breakfast we can now continue on to Stomorska. You can tie up directly at the moorings that are located directly at the promenade in the lovely harbour town. The island is well sheltered and is ringed with palm and cypress trees. There are numerous konobas along the promenade that simply invite you to stay a while and enjoy the dishes that are typical for the island. The place is a perfect combination of contrasts, because here you have the old stone houses that peep out from very old fishing boats and modern yachts. The place just looks like a Mediterranean postcard. There is a beautiful beach for swimming at the northern exit, and a delightful bar at which you can enjoy a Sundowner and spend a relaxed and enjoyable evening.

4th DAY

GORNJA KRUŠICA / STRAČINSKA

GORNJA KRUŠICA

GORNJA KRUŠICA

Our recommendation for the next day is to continue sailing on to the deeply indented bay of Gornja Krušica in the eastern part of the northern coast. It offers good anchoring points at depths of from four to six metres. The water here is crystal-clear. The island offers deserted beaches for bathing and swimming, while lovers of nature will have a treat. There are no konobas here, but instead you can enjoy to the full the peace and quiet on your anchored boat.

Once you have had your fill of peace and quiet, on this day the journey continues to the bay of Stračinska, which is just six sea miles away. This bay is regarded as one of the loveliest on the southern coast of the island and is a paradise of turquoise. It is too deep to anchor in the middle, so the best thing for yachts to do is to drop anchor and tie up with a landline on the northern bank.
This is once again a truly beautiful place where you can make full use of the water toys on the boat. When you go on land in the late afternoon, you can explore the dense pine forest that provides welcome shade in the height of summer. Enjoy dinner that evening in total peace and quiet back on the yacht, since there are no restaurants on the island.

5th DAY

JORJA / TATINJA

Ready to face the day after a good breakfast, we leave the turquoise paradise and head to Jorja. Here a deserted and spectacular fjord in the middle part of the southern coast awaits us. It is not possible to anchor here, since the water is between 15 and 50 metres deep. The Lero konoba has four buoys for guests. Within the bay there is a small shingle beach that is suitable for bathing and swimming. Enjoy a truly spectacular view when entering and leaving this bay.
Now we go on directly to our next destination, Tatinja. This is an ideal place for fans of diving and snorkelling. Here the sea is calm, clean and glows in all shades of turquoise. This bay is also well sheltered from the winds and so you can be sure of a peaceful night here. Two rocky cliffs in the middle of the bay jut out of the sea like two tiny islands. Head for this lonely paradise if you wish to enjoy a spectacular sunset in the evening. Very good food is available here. The depth of anchoring is 5-10 metres.

TATINJA-BUCHT

TATINJA BAY

6th DAY

ZAGLAV / ŠEŠULA

ŠEŠULA

ŠEŠULA

The next morning, which is also the last day but one of the tour, continues on to Zaglav. You will be delighted by this breathtaking bay with beautiful views of nature and is definitely worth a stopover in any case. Here there many stone houses of the kind that is typical here, dense pine forests and the crystal-clear sea is extremely clean. We recommend that you moor with two landlines as well as the anchor die to the depth of the water (around 12 metres). Here in this bay you can enjoy unspoiled nature, there are no konobas for eating and drinking. If you are gripped by hunger, then continue on the immensely popular bay of Šešula to the south of Maslinica. The bay is aligned such that you are well sheltered from the bora and jugo winds. You can tie up to mooring lines at the Šišmiš or Šešula restaurants. You will then be fetched by a shuttle boat and brought to one of the restaurants. Here you can spend the night. We strongly recommend that you enjoy to the full the wonderful underwater world in this bay. You can enjoy this the next morning in peace and quiet.

7th DAY

JELINAK

The last day of your tour now dawns. You travel to the nearby bay of Uvala Jelinak veli. Here there is an underwater museum that depicts the Way of the Cross of Christ in 52 life-size figures. You can tie up the yacht to a buoy and go on a journey of exploration with a snorkel and diving mask. The impressive tour ends here and you then travel back to the home harbour in Seget Donji with many happy memories and some great holiday photos. There you can spend the last evening in the Yacht Club restaurant in the marina with a great dinner and choice wines.
